TRUST Therapeutic Re-Parenting Training (2 Day Course)
Ulutho is hosting Dr Forse and Dr Dobel-Ober in July 2019 to offer this exciting training opportunity. The TR-UST course is designed to be an informative, interactive and interesting way for parents, care-givers and those professionals supporting them, to learn more about parenting children who have experienced early trauma, abuse or neglect. The sessions incorporate specialist input from highly qualified clinical psychologists and therapists, from the UK, with many years’ experience working with Developmental Trauma/ Attachment difficulties. Dr Forse grew up in the Eastern Cape and has a great understanding of the SA context. As well as receiving training participants will have the opportunity to take part in small group discussions, providing maximum opportunity to understand and practice theories, ideas and skills. Learning is enhanced by video clips and visual aids. Handouts and reading lists related to training will be provided. Book your ticket by clicking on one of the events, or by emailing debi@ulutho.co.za

"Having 30 years legal experience working with OVC (Orphan and Vulnerable Children) and myself having offered accredited training on the Children’s Act, I have yet to find as valuable training as the TR-UST training offered by Dr Meryl Forse and her colleagues. Their training creates comprehensive mechanisms to motivate relationships between children in care and their caregivers. By this I mean that it equips me to comfortably argue a continuing relationship between caregiver and a child in need.
Personally, my wife and I have offered alternate care in the form of respite care, safety and foster care as well as having adopted. In my professional capacity as well as a dad I would encourage anyone that loves, works with or cares for children with traumatic backgrounds to be a part of this wonderful opportunity."

Current Projects
The Ulutho Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Trust administers the Legacy Educational Fund suported by Glencore International AG.
This Educational Fund has supported about 200 children each year with partial or full bursaries. The recipients are assessed and a holistic approach is adopted by Ulutho.
The fund, by adopting this approach has been successful in achieving good results. Some of the support offered includes:
-Keeping children in school
-Providing remedial support such as extra Maths or English lessons
-Curriculum support for Child and Youth Care Centres where schooling or homework is provided
-Stipends for tutors providing one on one support for these children
-Assessments
-Medicines for ADD
-School uniforms
-Transport costs
-Help towards accommodation costs which enables children to be schooled / learnerships take place
Our hope that is that in 5 years time we can double this number of children being helped each year.
